​CAPACITY BUILDING FOR TOURISM PRACTITIONERS

The National Department of Tourism (NDT) has acknowledged that the capacity of local government to deliver on the tourism mandate presents a challenge to the growth and development of the tourism sector.  In addressing this challenge, the department saw a need to provide support and leadership, through the development of various capacity building / training programmes and tools that are aimed specifically at assisting tourism practitioners and policy makers to plan for tourism at local government.

These capacity building interventions and planning tools include:

• The South African Tourism Planning Toolkit for Local Government
