RESPONSIBLE TOURISM SELF-ASSESSMENT TOOL

One of the fundamental applications of SANS 1162 is the certification of tourism businesses if they comply with the requirements of SANS 1162.  Certification will be undertaken by an accredited certification agency.  In order to assist tourism businesses to prepare for certification, NDT in partnership with tourism stakeholders developed a user friendly on-line self-assessment tool. 

Tourism stakeholders are therefore advised to utilize the self-assessment tool in preparation for certification or to evaluate the organization’s progress in respect of sustainability. The self-assessment exercise should not be construed as self-certification because certification will be conferred by an accredited certification agency.   

It must be emphasised that tourism businesses that want to be certified will also undergo an assessment with the certification body of their choice prior to certification.​​ ​
